Stop one of our 5 week luxury adventure : Singapore.
After perusing many hotels, we chose Capella on Sentosa Island for our 5 night stay. It was a great choice for our family and I was pleasantly surprised to find Capella offer a very family friendly experience, more than I expected. I love a warm genuine welcome from a hotel and it was a great way to start our trip after a long day in the air from Sydney. Capella know how to do luxury, in a casual understated way. The property is spread over 30 acres, steeped in history and grand architecture.
Sentosa Island is a short cab ride into Singapore. Singapore and Sentosa offer many activities and sights for all ages. From theme parks, to zip lines, bungy, wave riding, zoo, night safari, river safari, butterfly park, Kidzania, Gardens by the Bay… a snapshot of many activities on offer. Shopping experiences and fabulous food options, it is very easy to spend a week in Singapore.
Capella offer sea view suites, if you love ships you will be fascinated as the ships cruise in and out of the shipping lane. Check out the sweet amenities for children. Our kids loved their tee-pee and bath robes.
For tranquil peace and quiet, you can’t go past the garden villas with plunge pool.
The resort exudes a beautiful ambience, three tier pool (second level for families), amazing day spa (The Full Moon massage was incredible), well equipped gym, tasty, quality dining, beautiful engaging staff which for me always enhances my trip, and is incredibly family friendly. A well rounded property and holiday experience.
Each morning we enjoyed breakfast by the pool at The Knolls. Cute messages on my coffee each day is a sweet touch to start the day 😊
Palawan beach is directly across the road, down some stairs at the back of Capella. Our kids had so much fun at the Palawan Pirate Ship waterpark, a free attraction open 10am-5pm daily. If you are heading here, choose a weekday as it is busier on weekends. There is also a great lookout across a fun, wobbly rope bridge to enjoy. A free Sentosa island bus will take you to the major attractions on Sentosa. Very easy to get around on this bus, or hop in taxi’s if like us, you have little people and like to keep things simple. Capella also offer a shuttle to Resorts World and Vivo City shopping center multiple times each day. Vivo City shopping mall is huge, worth a visit. If you are looking to eat out of the hotel, Siloso Beach has a few restaurants within walking distance or Resorts World has many many restaurants to choose from.
Gardens by the Bay is an amazing attraction near Marina Bay Sands Hotel/Mall. We took in the 7.45pm light show and thoroughly enjoyed it. The gardens exude intricate, beautiful design.
We spent a day at Universal Studios, my boys 3 and 5 years loved it, especially meeting their superhero characters and Transformers. It’s an easy day out with little ones. Take a stroller or you can hire one there. It can get very hot and humid walking around. They offer an “Express Pass” with the ticket purchase. If you are planning on taking a lot of rides, I recommend paying the extra for this express pass. Queuing for rides with kids can be tedious and the express pass allows you to jump the que for each ride once, well worth it when some can be an hour long.
We did have a hiccup during our trip and my little boy ended up in Raffles Hospital due to gastro/dehydration. I have to say our travel insurance with Aussie Travel Cover was great, arranging cover for our medical expenses and helping to rebook our onward flights. The hospital team were exceptional, I felt we were well taken care of and trusted their care. Capella hotel went above and beyond during this stressful time to ensure our stay was the best it could be in trying circumstances. On our return to the hotel the Capella team had decorated our suite with balloons, flowers, presents and cards. The level of thoughtfulness and service was 6 star and we truly felt special and cared for.
Singapore is a fantastic city, Capella a beautiful experience. We will be back!
